The United States holds 11 venues, capped by the Final at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey. Cities including Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Houston are major international gateways with strong carrier competition, generally the cheapest US ports of entry. Most venues are high-capacity NFL stadiums adapted for soccer, with capacities of 60,000 to 82,000.
Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey make up Mexico's contribution to the host map. Latin American travelers will usually find these the cheapest host cities to fly into. Estadio Azteca, in Mexico City, is the only ground globally to have staged two World Cup finals (1970 and 1986), cementing its historic status.
For Toronto and Vancouver, this is Canada's first time staging FIFA World Cup matches. BMO Field sits right in central Toronto with convenient transit access, while BC Place in Vancouver, equipped with a retractable roof, locks in dry play.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I book World Cup flights from Mexico?
Book 3 to 5 months before each match — January through April 2026 is the best window from MEX, GDL, or MTY. US-bound fares from Mexico spike in April 2026 as Americans start booking in the other direction. For Mexican host cities (CDMX, Guadalajara, Monterrey) last-minute can still work — domestic capacity is deep — but prices climb inside the final month.
Do Mexican citizens need a visa for the USA?
Yes. Mexican citizens need a B1/B2 tourist visa to enter the US. If you already have a valid US visa, no action needed — just bring your passport book. If you need to apply, expect a wait time of several months at many Mexican consulates — start the process at least 6 months before the tournament. ESTA is NOT available for Mexican passport holders; the B1/B2 visa is required.
Which Mexican airport is cheapest for reaching US host cities?
Monterrey (MTY) has the shortest and cheapest flights to Dallas (DFW) and Houston (IAH) — often under 2 hours and under US$200 round trip. Mexico City (MEX) has the widest network with direct service to most US host cities. Guadalajara (GDL) has strong direct service to LA and is a good match for West Coast matches. Cancún and Tijuana can also surface good deals on US domestic carriers.
Can I travel between Mexican host cities without flying?
Yes. ADO and Primera Plus buses connect most of Mexico with comfortable overnight service, and buses are cheap (US$20 to US$50 one-way). For Mexico City to Guadalajara (~6 hours by bus) or Mexico City to Monterrey (~10 hours), the bus is often better value than flying once you include airport time. Domestic flights (Viva, Volaris) are still fastest at 1 to 2 hours.
What if I find a cheaper fare after I book?
Volaris, Viva Aerobus, and Aeroméxico have different policies on fare drops. Volaris and Viva rarely refund the difference — book carefully. Aeroméxico sometimes offers fare-drop credit on flexible fares. For US carriers (Southwest, JetBlue) flying out of Mexico, their standard fare-drop credit policies apply. Set a price alert on this page to know the moment a cheaper fare appears.
Do I need travel insurance for US or Canadian matches?
Yes. Mexican social security (IMSS) and most private Mexican plans do not cover medical costs in the US or Canada. A short-term travel medical plan with at least USD 100,000 in coverage costs around US$30 to US$60 per trip and protects you from the much higher cost of US or Canadian hospital care. For Mexico-only travel, your regular plan usually works fine.
